EirGrid plc is the independent electricity Transmission System Operator (TSO) in Ireland and the Market Operator in the wholesale electricity trading system.

 

EirGrid's role is to deliver services to generators, suppliers and customers across the high voltage electricity system, and to put in place the grid infrastructure needed to support Ireland's economy. 

 

EirGrid develops, maintains and operates a safe, secure, reliable, economical and efficient transmission system. It plays a key role in the operation of the Single Electricity Market, as well as developing key infrastructural projects.

18.11.08 East West Interconnector Planning Application  
EirGrid has submitted a planning application to An Bord Pleanála relating to the proposed development of the East West Interconnector. The application is available for viewing or download at the dedicated planning application website which is www.eirgrideastwestinterconnector.ie. Any submissions or observations may be made only to An Bord Pleanála (‘the Board’) 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1 not later than 5.30p.m. on Thursday 22nd January 2009. Enquiries relating to the application process, should be directed to the Strategic Infrastructure Section of An Bord Pleanála (Telephone: 01 8588100).
