Transmission Forecast Statement 2005-2011
ESB National Grid, in its capacity as Transmission System Operator, has prepared this Forecast Statement, covering the period from 2005 to the end of 2011, in accordance with Section 38 of the Electricity Regulation Act, 1999.
The document shows where ESB National Grid has completed upgrades and developments to the high voltage power system and where further work is planned as part of the ongoing improvements to Ireland's vital electricity infrastructure.
The Transmission Forecast Statement contains information which will assist major developers seeking connections to the grid. It provides users with an understanding of the dynamic nature of the transmission network.
The Transmission Forecast Statement highlights the opportunities for generator connections at 48 points on the grid and for demand connections at 22 points. The information about opportunity at the point closest to the generation or demand site being considered provides an indication of the capability of the grid to facilitate the proposed connection. ESB National Grid advises developers to approach the organisation directly to discuss their requirements as early as possible in the development cycle.
The Transmission Forecast Statement will enable users to undertake their own power flow analyses, if desired.
Following feedback received from a customer survey issued in January 2005, and regular contact with customers, a number of enhancements have been made to make this Forecast Statement more useful and meaningful.
Transmission Forecast Statement 2005-2011 is available for download in pdf format below. The power flow diagrams in Appendix J and maps in Appendix K are presented in size A3 format. They are not included in the main document due to their size and print orientation. They are provided as separate download files. All individual chapters and appendices are available to download. Data tables in the appendices, relevant to those wishing to model the power system, are available to download in MS excel spreadsheets or csv format.
