Ireland's Power System

The National Grid is a meshed network of high voltage lines, cables, substations, and control and monitoring systems which enable power to be transported in bulk and high quality from generators to areas of demand. It provides secure, reliable power in all regions; it facilitates competition; and it is the key to integrating more renewable energy. The grid is the backbone of the electricity system and delivers services benefiting all electricity customers. The system is operated 24/7 to balance supply and demand and to control flows of power on the network. EirGrid provides data on demand for power, wind output and connections, generation availability and a range of other topics on this site. On a monthly basis, energy statistics are updated and made available here, and further data can also be accessed with the System Performance Data section on the righthand menu of this page or via the Renewables tab at the top of the page.

Please refer to the System Records section for additional performance records and information.
