Outage Information
Generation Outages
The PSOP section within EirGrid, in collaboration with SONI, develop and implement a co-ordinated Generation Outage Plan, which is consistent with:
The security of supply requirements in both jurisdictions
The requirements for the secure and economic operation of the both systems
The needs of generators in respect of plant maintenance requirements and resource limitations.

Transmission Outages
The PSOP section within EirGrid, in consultation with the Transmission Asset Owner (TAO), develops and manages the annual program of transmission outages. The program, which runs from late March to late October each year, is developed in a manner consistent with requirements to operate the system in a safe, secure and economic manner. The purpose of the program is to facilitate the following:
Routine maintenance of transmission assets
Corrective maintenance of transmission assets
Connection of new plant to the system
Decommissioning of plant from the system
Plant refurbishment / upgrading / modification
Power system restoration tests

Communications regarding outages with EirGrid
For outages of Generator unit transformers (on the Generator’s side) or any other outage on the generator’s side that affects availability, an e-mail containing the outage requirements should be sent to PSOP@eirgrid.com.
Transmission outages affecting a generator’s point of connection to the system are managed as follows:
PSOP requests generator transformer and house transformer outage requirements for the coming year.
The information received feeds into the development of the Transmission Outage Program, with outages of a Generator's point of connection to the system aligned with the relevant generator outage where possible.
Upon issue of the final Transmission Outage Program, PSOP furnishes all generators with the details of all transmission outages affecting them.
During specific transmission outages EirGrid will notify a station that a generation unit’s Availability as defined in the Grid Code will be different from the Outturn Availability as recorded in EDIL. Where this occurs stations should complete the attached form to record any changes in the units Availability. Notification of Change In Unit Availability
