EirGrid, as Ireland's Transmission System Operator, is committed to the delivery of high quality electricity transmission services. Like high quality broadband telecoms and motorways, electricity transmission plays a key role in driving and maintaining economic growth. The transmission map is available here.

Reinforcing and upgrading the transmission system ensures high quality and reliable services from bulk power transportation throughout Ireland, with major benefits for all customers - industrial and commercial, in the agriculture sector and householders. The upgrades will provide a major boost to competition by facilitating new independent power stations and wind farms.

The strategy for the development of Ireland’s Electricity Grid for a Sustainable and Competitive Future is set out in GRID25. Grid25 represents a total investment of €4 billion between now and 2025.
